The BVA AWF is the veterinary professions own charity for animal welfare. It aims to improve the welfare of all animals through veterinary science, education and debate. The Foundation was established in 1983 by the British Veterinary Association following a legacy to the BVA by the late Coleen MacLeod.
The remit of the Foundation is to apply the knowledge, skill and compassion of veterinary surgeons in an effective way by funding a variety of projects and activities which will find practical solutions to the welfare problems of all animals.
The Animal Welfare Foundation is committed to improving the welfare of animals but it is not a policy making body. For information on veterinary policy issues please click here.
