Edinburgh Equine Pain & Distress Study

This study was based on research carried out to evaluate the pain and distress associated with equine castration in three separate areas:

• Castration performed under general anaesthesia in an equine hospital
• Castration performed in the field
• Castration performed under deep standing sedation

Results of the study will be submitted for publication in The Veterinary Record and abstracts submitted for presentation at relevant equine conferences.
