We are delighted to welcome Joanne Fielder as our newest BVA AWF trustee. Joanne currently works as a part time small animal clinician in Oxfordshire having spent three years previously working for International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) as global coordinator for animal welfare.

Joanne is passionate about animal welfare and “wholeheartedly agree[s] that we are the profession ideally suited to assessing welfare issues and developing scientifically sound solutions”.

Also joining the board of trustees is BVA’s new President, Professor Bill Reilly. Bill qualified at Glasgow in 1970 and joined the State veterinaryservice in 1976 where he undertook a post graduate degree in Veterinary Public Health. After a successful period of secondment from MAFF, Bill joined the Communicable Disease (Scotland) Unit in 1989, going on to become Deputy Director. Bill has been very active in the BVA over the past twenty years or more, serving on numerous committees and became BVA President in September 2009.

An active BVA AWF trustee, Sean is also on the Foundation’s Way Forward Group, which is currently examining the strategic direction of the charity, and recently submitted a report entitled “How can the BVA AWF achieve a viable financial future?”.
